Provides resources and a guide to a public awareness campaign that was launched by The Departments of Health and Human Services and Education which is targeted at numerous sectors (e.g. early care and education, medical, primary health care, child welfare, mental health) —highlighting the importance of universal developmental and behavioral screening and support within the context of normative child development.

Addresses important questions on developing awareness and moving to action around comprehensive screenings, follow-up, and early intervention.

Presents research-based screening tools for children under age 5. Practitioners in early care and education, primary health care, child welfare, and mental health can use this reference to learn the cost, administration time, quality level, training required, and age range covered for each screening tool.

Portrays the challenges for youth in foster care to “be seen” at school and highlights how educators can support their academic achievement.  It features video clips of youth narrating their stories.

Provides information to teach youth about “strategic sharing”, highlighting the importance of sharing only what is appropriate and comfortable for the youth/consumer. This includes considering the purpose of sharing, audience, and protecting oneself and others who are a part of the youth's story.

Offers a three-tiered approach to implementing effective programs for homeless students for administrators at the state, district and individual school levels about two critical components: 1) a comprehensive needs assessment, and 2) effective program evaluation.  

Gives practical suggestions to school leaders or creating an inclusive school climate, and for preventing and addressing common school problems and challenges.

Highlights practices focused on improving educational continuity and school stability for children and youth in care. The report describes the strategies, practices, and tools showing the greatest potential for effecting systems improvement, along with key insights and lessons learned.

Houses more than 330 substance abuse and mental health intervention resources. Developed to help the public learn more about evidence-based interventions that are available for implementation.

Provides support to Local Health Departments' planning and preparedness activities by providing a filter, or guide, for the extensive array of existing resources, templates, PowerPoint presentations, memorandums of understanding and case studies in North Carolina. Resources in this online tool can be adapted for use by any state.
