With a mission to reduce the impact of substance abuse and mental illness on America's communities, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) has identified priority topics/strategic initiatives to focus the Agency’s work on people and emerging opportunities. SAMHSA has demonstrated that — across the lifespan — mental and behavioral health are essential to wellbeing, prevention works, treatment is effective, and people recover.
These topics are of importance to the field and help shape the environment in which grantees of both programs perform and provide greater context for their work.
