Mental Health Consultation in Child Care: Transforming Relationships among Directors, Staff, and Families

Covers topics such as initiating consultation; getting to know the program; adult relationships; beginning case consultation; gathering information and creating a picture of the child; interpreting behavior and developing hypotheses; and translating hypotheses into responsive action within the child-care setting. Reports on the overall implementation of the Strengthening Families initiative and offers an analysis of successes, challenges, and next steps. This resource highlights that sustaining and enhancing the work nationally will depend on the following elements: continued evolution of the Strengthening Families National Network among states, an effective platform for sharing tools and resources, attention to ensure that evolving practice continues to be grounded in research, and methods for sharing the evolving knowledge base about the approach.

Compilation of National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) Resources Related to Race to the Top Early Learning Challenge Program

Compiles a list of NAEYC online resources arranged according to application selection criteria intended to guide states as they complete their applications. The resources range from web pages to briefs and reports to position statements.
